QUICK ANSWER

Race Reroll item descriptions explicitly say they reroll race and reset the character. A character wipe is a different action: community references say it keeps Race and Family and offers a Grimoire-retention choice. Attribute resets and magic rerolls serve other purposes.

Which action do you need?

Your goal Item or service Documented change or consequence
Roll another magic element Magic Reroll / Grimoire Reroll Another random magic; no desired-element selection is established
Change your race Race Reroll Rerolls race and resets the character, according to both normal and Locked item descriptions
Change your last name Family Name Reroll Rerolls the family name; full progression-retention details are not established
Change magic appearance Magic variant reroll Cosmetic variant, separate from the element; FAQ says variants give no gameplay advantage
Reallocate attributes Lady of the Lake → Gift of Renewal Resets allocated stat points; current dialogue controls the scope and cost
Restart slot progression Character wipe Community sources describe lost inventory/progress, retained Race/Family and an option to retain Grimoire
Change an existing weapon enchantment Enchantment Fragment Rerolls an already enchanted weapon

The source descriptions do not prove that every unmentioned field stays unchanged. Read the actual confirmation for the selected slot and item, especially when it mentions a reset.

Magic element and cosmetic variant

A magic reroll changes the element rather than selecting a specific replacement. Compare the seven-magic pool before spending; rarity alone does not establish which kit suits your next encounter.

The FAQ lists Robux purchases and gameplay-earned Essence spent in the Shop as acquisition routes. The Magics page also reports trading and drops associated with Bael, Gladiator and Vaelor, without verified drop rates. These are reported routes to inspect, not a promise that every item version is available through each route.

A variant reroll changes the cosmetic form. The saved FAQ describes Tab → Ability, while the laboratory material describes a variant NPC. Those may represent different interfaces or versions; inspect the current ability menu or laboratory service rather than treating one old navigation sequence as universal.

Race reroll versus character wipe

These actions have different effects:

  • Race Reroll: the Artifacts descriptions explicitly combine a new race with a character reset. The Locked version carries the same reset wording.
  • Character wipe: FAQ and Magics describe restarting progression while keeping Race and Family, with a choice about retaining the Grimoire. Magics explicitly warns of lost inventory and progress.

A wipe therefore is not the documented way to obtain another race. Before a Race Reroll, inspect the current reset warning rather than assuming it changes only appearance. See races and passives for the effects you are replacing.

The Races reference describes main-menu purchases as untradable and in-game purchases as more expensive but tradeable. It also reports a low-chance Gladiator drop. No permanent price or exact drop probability is established here.

Resetting attributes

For attributes, the Stats reference directs you to the Lady of the Lake in the Great Mushroom Forest and the Gift of Renewal option. Use the location directory to identify the service.

Its cost is described in Insights and/or Marks without a verified universal price. Check the dialogue for the cost and what is refunded. The saved material does not guarantee that trait points are returned or that traits remain active after their attribute prerequisites are removed.

Essence of Renewal is a separate artifact name with a vague description about restoring lost potential. Similar wording is not proof that it performs this stat-reset service. Do not substitute it for Gift of Renewal without checking its current item effect.

Earning and spending Essence

The FAQ lists Bestiary progression, professions, Gladiator victories and boss battles as Essence sources, and lists rerolls, extra slots and cosmetics among Shop purchases. A release-day recording at 1:55:40 explores reward menus and Shop options, including Locked Essence.

Use that as a route to investigate in the current menus. The recording does not establish a permanent price, reward amount or spending rule for every Essence type. Older guides quote different race and magic reroll prices, so this page does not present those historical numbers as today’s cost.

Locked items and trading restrictions

The Artifacts reference explicitly marks Locked Family Reroll, Locked Magic Reroll, Locked Race Reroll and Locked Save Slot Token as untradable. Some other entries show both Tradeable and Soulbound flags. Inspect your actual inventory copy and trade interface before relying on a general item label.

The saved item configuration’s buyable/drop flags are not a complete acquisition guide and differ from reported Shop and gameplay routes. We do not use those flags to declare that a documented reroll can never be bought or earned.

Forgemaster’s Ember concerns weapon stars in its description, not the six weapon-enchantment effects. Its exact use and guaranteed result are not established. An Enchantment Fragment is the item explicitly described for rerolling an existing enchantment.

Before confirming

  1. Select the intended character slot and verify whether the action changes element, race, family, attributes or weapon effect.
  2. Read any reset or inventory-loss warning, including a Locked item’s description.
  3. Inspect the current price and the currency or item actually being consumed.
  4. Check whether the result is random and whether the item is tradable or bound.
  5. Continue only when those consequences match the change you want.
