Delayed attacks and target control
Tethers, delayed orbs and a recast beam offer distinct timing choices. A damage benefit at night is listed, but its magnitude is not documented.
This is a reading of the documented mechanics, not a tested tier rating or guaranteed combo. Compare range, recovery, costs, and whether the target can evade the follow-up. A boss damage window and a player duel can reward different choices.
Use the attribute guide and trait requirements to check build dependencies. The build-planning page separates supported mechanics from untested recommendations.
Working with delayed pressure
Shadow Annihilation’s delayed orbs and Void Beam’s follow-up activation call for different timing from a direct rush. Shadow Tendril can affect movement, but a slowed target can still respond; the source does not establish a guaranteed combo from the tether.
Fear The Shadows describes a night-time condition without a numeric bonus. Keep time of day in a comparison instead of treating one night encounter as normal daytime damage.
- Check when an orb or recast actually becomes threatening.
- Practise follow-ups at the distance created by Dark Piercer.
- Keep the stronger-shot passive separate from the default beam behavior.
Cosmetic variants & reference notes
The overview and detail material disagree about variants. Their lists are shown separately below so that an unverified appearance is not presented as a confirmed current roll.
Void · Bloodshade · Miasma · Phantom
None listed
Variant availability remains unresolved between these references.
The overview describes variants as cosmetic. A configuration weight is not automatically a percentage probability, and we have not converted any variant weights into roll chances.
Getting Shadow Magic
The current community overview lists the first magic quest at level 15, Wisdom Peak, with Shadow occupying 15% of the listed roll pool. A recent unlock walkthrough explicitly corrects the older level-10 expectation to 15. Follow the current quest requirement if an update changes it.
A roll chance is not a promise about the next attempt. See reroll methods and wipe cautions before changing a grimoire. The beginner route explains the progression leading into the quest.
